Mixed feelings regarding the loss of Layne had the devout sludge factory of Layne lovers quite apprehensive, and the beautifully crisp and mind-numbing vocals of the new William Duvall. The band's rebirth had a place in my heart for Layne Staley, but the evolution of Big Mike Hart preserved what they have always been, recognizing that their love for music and for their original front-man is one that withstands obstacles and tragedy. Musical genius-Jerry Cantrell clearly controlled progression and tempo as expected. Duvall's voices melded together, differently, but as beautifully as the days of Rooster and Down in a Hole. He and gave attention to his fans, commanding attention. I met him after the show, and he could not be a GREATER dude! Mike Inez maintained a smooth transitional rhythm under the radar, nonchalant, and adorable throughout the set. "Would?" "A Looking in View" highlighted his skills and created a wonderful flow, and so many others. Besides the two times that Sean Kinney threw his sticks to 4 lucky fans, he surrounded himself in his element-perfection of percussion-never missing a beat.
